Arise, blog!

So this is the first post in this blog in quite some time. I had intended this blog to document my painting, but it kind of fell by the wayside. To try to catch up, I'll be posting pics of my completed Ultramarines companies and try to update you on what I've got going on at the moment. First off, here's a picture of the whole 4th Company. The company banner has been changed to that of the "official" GW version. The one seen in the pic is my first attempt at freehanding a banner. Sadly, I can't claim any huge improvement in the intervening time. It takes practice and I just haven't had the time to do that. I'll be posting pics of the company one squad at a time in subsequent posts.

Well, that's it for right now. I hope you enjoy the pics and I promise to try to be a more faithful poster in the future.

Baby steps...

So it's been awhile since my last update. Not much accomplished on the painting front. I've started on three new bikes and have begun the process of applying highlights to all of my ultras. I've gotten the first squad done, just seven more to go! Here's a pic of the completed first squad. Now that I've had it pointed out to me (much to my own embarrassment!) that my sergeant is wrong from the novel standpoint, I'll be going back and rebuilding him with a mix of tactical and terminator parts. I'll start on the second squad tomorrow at work, given the opportunity.

Death from above!

So today I finished up the last of my assault marines. Since I've started adding more details to them, I'm much more happy about them. Without further ado, here's a pic.
I'll be going back and doing the same to the squads I've already made. That's after I finish my last squad of Devastators. When they're done, I'll only lack some vehicles and my battle company will be complete. I really owe the guys over at the Space Wolf Community forum quite a bit. They're a great bunch of guys! It is quite funny though, because since I've become a member over there, I find myself using British spellings and phrases! If you're interested, you can check us out here. I'm known as Haegrsmyhero there.

About me...

So this is my first attempt at blogging. A bit about myself then, I guess. I was born in South Korea, raised all over the US(Army brat!), currently residing in Alabama, and work for an ambulance service. I'm the father of two girls and one boy, married to my second wife who is my best friend, and a Christian. I enjoy collecting and painting models from the Warhammer 40,000 game, NASCAR, University of Alabama football, and SCUBA.

The primary focus of this blog will be my 40K minis, but I'll also ramble on about various subjects as they strike my fancy. I hope you enjoy, and thanks for coming along for the ride.
